Back Home Again in Indiana

Hello! I’m sitting here bundled up in a scarf and cardigan and looking at the grey slush covering the ground outside! :) We are a far cry from the Caribbean view we left almost four weeks ago, but man oh man has this time been sweet. So- here’s a picture-heavy post documenting these last few weeks, starting with our last day on the island until now!

Our last Sunday at CCF before going to Indiana! And a sweet new updated family photo with the Graysons! The last time we all got a picture together was the night before the Grayson’s left for St. Kitts almost 4 years ago!

Soaking up some of the last warm days we’ll have for 2 months!

Here is a little comparison of the population density between St. Kitts and Miami! :)

Kristen hitting the only place to stop at first when back in the states!

Back home again with our FAMILIES!!!

youth home

And our dear friends!

Some much needed Gma time!

We got to see Jack coaching his middle school boys team.

Making our own cookies at the General Store in Darlington.

Seeing Aunt Erin and checking out her new place of work, North View Christian church.

We got to travel down to Tennessee to watch the Colts demolish the Titans! And pictured is 4 generations of Colts fans – My Grandpa, my dad, myself and Corban.

We also got to watch a Pacers game with Grandaddy and Uncle Brandon! It was an awesome game!

We were able to set aside the first two and a half weeks and just hunker down with our families in our hometown, Crawfordsville. Our parents and siblings had some time off of work, my (Kristen) grandparents came up from Mississippi, and we so so so enjoyed lots of days just at home with our families. What a sweet way to kick off our time in the States!!! Though our schedules have been full, the QUALITY of time we have had thus far has been so wonderful. I’ve ended nearly every day just feeling so full. The Lord has been so good to us!

We finished out week three with a trip, just me and Jordan!!, with a three days down in Tennessee. We got to stay at an amazing bed and breakfast (that has a heart to bless and serve missionaries) and just relax, play games, sleep, talk, drink coffee, have uninterrupted conversations, and just sit and pray and ask the Lord for vision for this next year. It was so sweet and SO NEEDED— we had not had three days just us since having kids almost eight years ago. Shoutout with a HUGE THANK YOU to our parents who lavished love on our kiddos while we enjoyed our time away, and also the staff of Whitestone Inn for an amazing time of refreshment. We are so thankful!! We also got to stop and see our dear friends, the Copes, who just finished school on the island and are now in Knoxville to complete Andrew’s Vet degree. It was so wonderful to see their new home, explore a little of downtown with them, enjoy a DELICIOUS meal, and then meet up with another set of friends, the Comer’s, who are actually making preparations to move to St. Kitts in fall of 2016!! All in all, it was an incredible weekend. :)

We then came up to Indy this past Wednesday and have set up camp here with our dear friend, Brett. He has been so gracious to open his home to our (large) family and it’s been so wonderful. He is like an uncle to our kiddos, just a part of our family, and it’s been so great to have time with him and to be close to the church and all that’s going on around here.  We will do some traveling back and forth between here and Cville and then the various churches we are traveling around to.

This Sunday we had the privilege of sharing at Horizon Westfield. Jordan’s bible college director and former coworker at Horizon Indy took a step of faith and is planting a church in the heart of Westfield, Indiana. This church has partnered with us in prayer and we are so grateful for them! Many of the members whom we have never met already knew us because of praying and also they have our magnet! It really was an honor to be there among them and to see God’s faithfulness to this church in growing it and establishing it within this growing community! Pray for them as they purpose to be used to make disciples!!

We have an exciting few weeks ahead of us as we travel around. We will be going up to Ft. Wayne to Harvest Leo (Jan. 18). Matt Hawkins and the youth have been to St. Kitts on several occasions. We then travel back to Indy to share with the Chapel Youth, who brought a team down to serve in St. Kitts this summer. The following weekend (Jan 25), we will be in Lexington at the Calvary Chapel there with our dear friend the Hurts, and then to our hometown church, Calvary Chapel Crawfordsville (Feb. 1) and our last Sunday (Feb. 8) in the States will be at our home church, Horizon Christian Fellowship.

While our weekends are  pretty full, our weekdays are open and we would love to pack them up with visits and good times! So get ahold of us! We would love to see you!

  2. Such beautiful pictures!!! Made me smile. Praying the rest of your visit will continue to be full of blessings : )

  3. Yay! I loved getting to read an update from you! It was so good to see pictures full of wonderful moments with family and friends. I can only imagine how much you are cherishing these days. I was just getting ready to say, “I wish there was a way to meet up with you one of these days, Kristen!” You know, since I’ve only been saying that for how many years now. Literally right after I had that thought, in the same paragraph I was reading, I see you are coming to Fort Wayne! But the church you will be at is on the opposite side of Ft. Wayne from me, and I have obligations at my church that morning. :( So, I will continue to say…one of these days I will get to meet up with you! 😉 ENJOY this time with everyone!!
